Masks & Scrubs (Glow Without the Barrier Drama)
Masks and scrubs can add glow, smooth texture, and support clarity — when they’re formulated with sensitive skin in mind. For reactive, dry, or hormonally responsive skin, the wrong formula can undo weeks of progress.
At Conscious Glow, I only recommend masks and exfoliating treatments that:
- Deliver visible benefits — glow, smoothness, hydration, or clarity
- Respect the skin barrier and avoid ingredients on the Glow-No List™ (such as undisclosed fragrance/parfum, cyclic silicones, parabens, and known irritants)
- Work for real, changing skin — including hormonal shifts, sensitivity, ageing, and breakouts
- Are formulated with intention, not marketing fluff
👉 How to read the Conscious Glow Scale
Ingredient alignment and performance are assessed separately.
This scale reflects ingredient standards only.
🟢 Clean — fully aligned
Fragrance-free, barrier-friendly, and free from Glow-No ingredients.
Designed for high tolerance and sensitive or reactive skin.
🟡 Clean-ish — context matters
Avoids Glow-No ingredients but may include clearly disclosed trade-offs such as essential oils, botanical fragrance allergens, phenoxyethanol (≤1%), or mild functional synthetics.
🔴 Not Recommended
Includes one or more ingredients from the Glow-No List™.
Not shown on this page — referenced elsewhere only for transparency or context.
Products are ordered from Clean through Clean-ish, with clear caveats so you can choose based on tolerance and goals.

💲 Budget (<$25)
The Ordinary: AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (~$15–20 USD)
Rating: 🟢 Clean – no fragrance, no silicone, no phenoxyethanol
This is the iconic at-home facial — and it earns its reputation. If your skin is dull, textured, or breaking out, this formula delivers instant smoothness and next-day glow.
That said, this is not barrier-neutral. The ingredient list is clean, but the strength makes it unsuitable for sensitive, reactive, or tret-treated skin. Use sparingly, never exceed 10 minutes, and skip entirely if your barrier is compromised.
(Important note: Clean ≠ gentle. This is why performance and ingredients are assessed separately — and why this sits in Clean-ish rather than Clean.)
💲💲 Mid ($25–50)
Youth to the People: Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask (~$48 USD)
Rating: 🟢 Clean – no fragrance, no silicone, no phenoxyethanol
This is the overnight “I need to look well-rested tomorrow” mask. It glides on like a soft, whipped cream and sinks in without heaviness, making it ideal for dehydrated, dull or mid-winter skin. It’s rich enough to nourish dry skin but balanced enough that combo and normal skin won’t feel greasy. If you lean very oily, you may find it a little much — but for everyone else, it’s a reliable glow-reset.
100% Pure — Green Tea Water Bomb Mask (~$50 pack USD)
Rating: 🟢 Clean – no fragrance, no silicone, no phenoxyethanol
A cooling, calming sheet mask that feels like a drink of water for your face. I reach for this on sensitised-skin days, post-tret tightness, or after too much sun or wind. The aloe + hyaluronic acid + green tea combo instantly softens redness and plumps dehydrated skin. Beautiful for barrier repair, and gentle enough for sensitive girlies.
Herbivore Botanicals: Blue Tansy Clarity Mask (~$48 USD) Rating: 🟡 Clean-ish — essential oil–heavyThis mask is a favourite for breakout-prone skin because the blend of AHAs, BHAs, and blue tansy works quickly on congestion. But it is very botanical-forward. If your skin can tolerate essential oils, it smooths and clears beautifully. If you’re reactive or rosacea-prone, this one will be too much. Great for oily, clogged, “my pores are loud today” moments.
Go-To: Transformazing Sheet Mask (~$11 USD each / $45/5-pack) Rating: 🟡 Clean-ish — mild synthetics + fragrance allergensThis is your pre-event, pre-photo, “make me glow now” mask. Niacinamide + Kakadu plum gives bright, juicy skin in 20 minutes. It’s not fragrance-free, so it stays Clean-ish, but the results? Undeniably impressive. Perfect for nights out, weddings, or whenever you want makeup to glide on like a dream.
💲💲💲 Luxury ($50+)
Indira Organics — Refine Clay Mask (~$60 USD)
Rating: 🟢 Clean – fragrance-free, barrier-safe, certified clean
A beautifully gentle clay mask that detoxes without leaving you chalk-dry or tight. If you’ve been burned by aggressive clay masks before, this one will surprise you — it clarifies and smooths without stealing your moisture. Ideal for congestion, uneven texture, and hormonal chin breakouts. Just don’t let it fully dry (no cracking desert mask moments).
Tata Harper: Resurfacing Mask (~$50–68 USD) Rating: 🟡 Clean-ish — citrus essential oilsThis is one of Tata’s iconic glow products — and yes, the radiance is real. It’s the kind of mask that gives you that glassy, healthy sheen in a gentle, jelly texture. But it is rich in citrus essential oils, which means sensitive skin might not love her. If you tolerate essential oils, she’ll give you luminous, bouncy skin.
Indie Lee: Radiance Renewal Peel Pads (~$54 USD) Rating: 🟡 Clean-ish — essential oils flaggedThese resurfacing pads are the lazy-girl glow solution. Swipe, glow, done. They’re effective for texture and dullness, but the essential-oil scent profile keeps them in Clean-ish territory. Great for busy routines or travel, but not the best pick for anyone avoiding essential oils altogether.
Rael — Hydration Sheet Mask (~$55 USD pack) Rating: 🟡 Clean-ish — essential oils presentA gentle K-beauty hydration mask that softens and calms the skin beautifully. Lightweight, soothing, and perfect for dry, post-flight, or over-exfoliated skin days. The essential oils are mild but still present, so fragrance-sensitive skin might prefer the 100% Pure one instead.
